Baywatch: Movie Review
PeeCee is trying to become a true Hollywood girl after her success in TV series Quantico. We heard a lot about her after the official confirmation of her being a part of Baywatch. Her fans back in India were expecting a lot from the Bollywood turned Hollywood hottie but unfortunately, the Bollywood biggie’s film failed to leave a mark.
You will not find much difference between the TV series of the 90’s and this film. Many characters from the Baywatch TV series have been retained in the film and we are also seeing fresh faces for a few characters. Both the male leads namely Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron have replaced David Hasselhoff and David Charvet from the TV series.
The story revolves around a lifeguard crew led by Mitch Buchannon dealing with a new entrant Matt Brody and the duo sticking together to work out their way against drug Lady Victoria Leeds (played by Priyanka Chopra). The film is all about cuss words, bikini-clad women, and humour that won’t even make you laugh.
As expected, Baywatch isn’t fairing well in India just like it has failed overseas. Here’s what the critics have to say about the film:
NDTV rated the film 1 out of 5 stating, “If you are have made up your mind about watching this film, don’t do it on the big screen in India. In fact, considering how insipid the cinematography is, you might as well watch this at home.”
Indian Express quoted, “The only person with as much oomph as Anderson, evoked at the cost of much blood, sweat, tears and, not to forget, many trolls, in Baywatch is Chopra. You want a real redux? That’s a thought.”
Hindustan Times gave the film 1 out of 5 stars and the review read, “Baywatch is a ‘comedy’ which makes the bizarre decision to not feature known comedic actors in lead roles.”
Watching the movie will cost you money and time but there’s no harm in watching the trailer, right?
