This person can aptly be regarded as the actor-par-excellence with brawny and grim facial lexis and also possessing one of the best physiques in the Indian Film Industry. Though most of his performances in majority of his movies may remind you of an angry young man totally demoralized by the system and who is out to fight and cleanse the system till his last breadth. That is why he’s so popular among the masses for the humanly touch with which Sunny Deol has honed his acting skills.

Sunny Deol was born on 19th of October 1956 to legendary actor Dharmendra and his wife Prakash Kaur in New Delhi. He has 1 brother younger to him; Bobby who himself is a very popular actor. His family name is Ajay Singh Deol. From the childhood itself Sunny nurtured the dream of becoming an actor and to follow the footsteps of his father but being the son of a legend was never an easy task, for that matter he has to handle a lot of pressure and always be in limelight. To polish his acting skills, he moved to Britain for a while where he enrolled himself in a theatre known as Old Web from where he undertook courses in drama and theatrical skills.
Sunny Deol made his debut in Hindi Cinema with Betaab in which he played the role of an adolescent lover in 1983. After that his films didn’t performed well at the box-office before he acted in Arjun in 1985. The movie became a hit as people identified themselves with the unemployed person who out of compulsion becomes a goon. With this film he became the ultimate macho man of Hindi cinema and via films coined the image of an action hero. Sunny further cemented his position in Bollywood with a powerful and solemn acting in Ghayal in 1990. After 3 years, his breathtaking performance in the film Damini in the role of a drunken lawyer fighting the system in order to get justice won him the National Award.
In all he has acted in little more than 74 films. Most of his films belonged to the action category but besides that they were directly or indirectly related to indigenous roots and somewhere had the flavor of patriotism. Some of his films are Tridev in 1989, Vishwatma in 1992, Imtihaan in 1995, Ghatak in 1996, Ziddi and Border in 1997 and Indian in 2001. Sunny Deol has been criticized for stereotyping his image as an action hero but he proved his detractors wrong by giving super hit films of romantic genre, namely, Sohni Mahiwal in 1984, Chaalbaaz in 1989, Darr in 1993, Jeet in 1996 and Gadar in 2001. His most recent release is Apne directed by Anil Sharma in which he has acted for the first time with his father and second time with his brother. He has also donned the hat of director in 1999 when he directed Bobby Deol along with Urmila Matondkar in Dillagi. One of his weak points that have always persisted throughout his acting career is his dancing skills.
As far as his personal life is concerned, he’s married to Pooja and is the father of 2 boys. Despite being married, he was rumored to have a long-term passionate affair with Dimple Kapadia and then got involved with a miserable and dejected Raveena Tandon. But despite all this, his marriage is still intact and going strong so as his acting career that has already reached its zenith.
A jovial, bubbly and chunky adolescent who acted in films just for fun and barely in her teens she was already a popular actress. Neetu Singh aka Kapoor said goodbye to the film industry at the age of 21 leaving her fans high and dry. In every roles she portrayed she added a joyful glimmer to her performance. Neetu Singh was born on 8th July 1958. Her family name is Sonia Singh. She initially worked as a child artist under the forename of Baby Sonia. Gradually, she fruitfully transformed herself into the roles of leading lady. Her popularity grew in the decade of 1980’s when she acted with all the leading actors of that time.

Neetu appeared alongside her costar and later husband Rishi Kapoor in over 12 films and the couple became a popular on and off-screen pair of Bollywood. Both, Rishi and Neetu dated each other for a while after which they got married on January 22nd 1980. At that time she was just 21 years of age and she chose to retire from the film industry at the height of her popularity as Neetu desired for love and family over a flourishing career. Besides that it was also being said in the gossip circles that reason behind her decision was to honor Kapoor family’s tradition of ladies not to work after marriage. The couple has two kids elder daughter Ridhima who is a fashion designer by profession and son Ranbir who is soon going to make his debut in glittering Bollywood arena. Recently, Ridhima got married to businessman Bharat Sawhney based in Delhi.
One of her best quality for which Neetu was always admired was her natural ability to look different even in multi-starrer films such as Kaala Patthar & Kabhi Kabhi. During her career she was considered as the living symbol of youthful ambitions. Her style, sense and etiquettes were intimated by the people and until her premature retirement she became every man’s dream girl. She had a certain edge over other actresses of the time because she had a youthful charm and energy with her. She was given a push by her mother and little neetu started out with small roles in Suraj portraying the sister of Rajendra Kumar in 1996. In 1968, she starred in Do Kaliyan in which played a double role; the movie was a huge hit and it also opened gates of opportunities for her. Neetu’s performance in some bold costumes which were considered unusual at that time in Yaadon Ki Baarat in 1973 made her the sexy actress of the conservative 70’s.
Neetu’s career received a boost when she starred opposite heartthrob Rishi Kapoor in number of films. Two of them didn’t disappoint the masses and mesmerized them with their foot tapping performance in Khel Khel Mein in 1975. Their position as the leading pair was further cemented by films such as Amar Akbar Anthony, Rafoo Chakkar & Kabhi Kabhi. Some of the other notable films of Neetu Singh’s career are Parvarish, Doosra Admi, Great Gambler, Adalat, Yaarana, Yuvraj, Chakravyuh, Kasme Vaade and Dharamveer. In all she has acted in over 52 films.
Kamal Haasan is not only an actor-par-excellence but is also an extremely gifted dancer. Kamal Haasan was born on November 7th 1954 to advocate father Srinivasan and Rajalakshmi. He has 2 elder brothers Charu and Chandra and one sister. He was the youngest of the lot. Juhi Chawla can safely be called as an actress coming from a modeling world and being there in the Indian film industry for so long and still is a very popular actress. Juhi was born on November 13th 1967 in Punjab to Mona who had a gujrati background and Dr. S. Chawla. She has one sibling Sanjeev. Juhi completed her graduation from Sydenham College in Mumbai. In the beginning of her filmy career she acted in pure masala movies of the Hindi cinema but whatever work we see of Juhi today is her inclination towards doing serious roles that are generally seen in art cinema. In her personal life, Juhi married entrepreneur Jai Mehta and the couple has one daughter Jhanvi and one son Arjun.

Before entering into film industry Juhi Chawla was a well-known model in the fashion industry. The young couple’s performance and on-screen chemistry became such a rage with the youth that both Juhi and Aamir were revered as lover’s idols. In 1993 she was casted in Aaina opposite Jackie Shroff, though the film did not performed well commercially but Juhi was highly praised for her performance. In the same year, she gave one of the most successful films of her career Darr opposite Shahrukh Khan & Sunny Deol. After that, some of her films didn’t do well at the box-office until she gave a smashing hit Lootere directed by Dharmesh Darshan.

Juhi’s portrayal of a south Indian girl in the film Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke in 1993 opposite Aamir Khan won her the first Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Later on she paired with Aamir in 1997 in a romantic cum comic flick Ishq which too was a super hit. Known for his unusual dressing sagacity and overtly colorful costumes, Govinda still after spending about 22 years in the Hindi film Industry is known for his exquisite dancing skills. Govinda was born to his parents Arun Ahuja and Nirmala Ahuja on 21st December 1963 in Maharashtra. His family name is Govind Arun Ahuja. He completed his college education from Annasaheb Vartak College located in Vasai. He has 1 brother Kirti Kumar who is elder to him. Govinda is fondly known as Chichi in the film industry. Within 2 yrs. of his debut in the film industry, Govinda married according to his parents’ wishes on March 11th 1987 to Sunita. The couple is now parents to a girl and a boy.

Govinda made his debut in Bollywood with Ilzam in 1986. The movie became a hit and appeared in string of films that drew lukewarm response at the box-office. He formed a successful on-screen pair with actress Neelam with whom he acted in super hit films such as Love 86 in 1986, Khudgarz in 1987 and Hatya directed by his brother Kirti Kumar in 1988. His successful association with director David Dhawan started out with Taaqatwar in 1989. His other hit films with David include Shola Aur Shabnam and Aankhen in 1993 & 1993 respectively. This was the point where Govinda got pulled more towards comic genre and comedy became his specialization. In the 1990’s he created the magic at box-office with successful pairing with Karisma Kapoor & Raveena Tandon.
From the stable of Govinda-David Dhawan came popular comical hits like Raja Babu, Hero No. 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Coolie No. 1, Haseena Maan Jaayegi ,Saajan Chale Sasural, Deewana Mastana & Jodi No. 1. Ironically, Govinda after spending such a long time in Bollywood and giving many super hit films has so far received only 1 Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Comic Role for hilarious performance in Haseena Maan Jaayegi in 1999.
Govinda attempted to break away from his stereo type image by performing the role of a villain for the first time in his acting career in Shikari. Though the movie failed at the box-office his performance in a negative role was critically applauded. After 2000, his films failed to create the govinda magic and subsequently he decided to enter the political arena in 2003 and entered into Lok Sabha as an elected member of parliament by winning parliamentary seat from Virar. Later on he continued his association with the film industry by entering into production with Ssukh. As an elected politician he has been condemned for being unapproachable to the electorates.
In 2006, Govinda reappeared on the silver screen with the comedy Bhagam Bhag. The movie was successful and was his first hit film in 6 years. His first release in 2007 was Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love. Though movie did an average business commercially but Govinda’s performance was praiseworthy. Partner starring Salman Khan and directed by his old buddy David Dhawan is his upcoming release in 2007. Once again govinda is banking heavily on his favorite genre of Comedy.

Belonging to a famous bollywood clan and being in the company of illustrious actors is such a big thing to be happen and on top of it having the requisite dancing capabilities that is a must to establish your popularity in the Hindi Cinema. Bobby Deol has it all. Being in the family where there’s a presence of legends like Dharmendra and Sunny Deol has always been a source of motivation and anxiety for Bobby. Since he made his debut, there was always a constant comparison with his father and brother. But today, Bobby as an actor has carved out his separate identity in Bollywood and ironically is regarded as one of the best dancers in the film Industry.

Bobby Deol was born on January 27th 1967 to veteran actor Dharmendra and his wife Prakash Kaur. His family name is Vijay Singh Deol. He has 1 elder brother Sunny and 2 half-sisters Esha and Ahana. Bobby married Tanya Ahuja who happens to be the daughter of investment expert Dev Ahuja who’s the owner 21st Century Finance. Couple has 2 sons Aryaman and Dharam who has been named after his grandfather.
Bobby had first brush with the films when he appeared as kid dharamendra in his father’s film Dharam Veer in 1977. He was introduced in Bollywood as a hero in Barsaat in 1995 opposite another debutant star child Twinkle Khanna and directed by friend turned foe Rajkumar Santoshi. Though the film did a moderate business at the box-office but his performance earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Debut (male). But he could not receive his award as he was admitted in hospital at that time. Two years later in 1997, he appeared in super hit film Gupt starring Kajol and Manisha Koirala. In 1998, he starred in 2nd super hit film of his career in action flick Soldier opposite Preity Zinta and directed by Abbas Mustan. After that, most of his films that released did an average business at the box-office such as Bichhoo and Badal.
Though never involved in any controversy, Bobby Deol was in news during the filming of Ajnabee. There were reports of cold vibes between Bobby’s wife Tanya and his co-star in the movie Kareena Kapoor on the sets and the alleged closeness of Deols with Kareena’s rival newcomer Bipasha Basu.
Bobby’s films such as Ajnabee and Humraaz did an average business at the box-office. His portrayal of a loyal husband earned him Filmfare nomination for Best Actor in 2002. He got critical praise for his on-screen pairing with his brother Sunny in films like 23rd March 1931: Shaheed & Dillagi. In 2007, his first release was multi-star Shakalaka Boom Boom. His release the same year, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom produced by Yash Raj Films didn’t stand up to the expectations. Bobby’s latest release was Apne in which the entire Deol family acted for the first time. On the whole, he has acted in over 27 films. Bobby Deol is a complete family man and prefers to eat home cooked food and likes to holiday at his farm house at Lonavla.

Amol Palekar is one of the most accomplished actors of Hindi Cinema. He has not just established himself as an actor but has also donned the hat of director several times. Amol Palekar belongs to that period when there was upsurge flaring everywhere in the Indian society. Infact, by virtue of roles he has played, Mr. Palekar can be regarded as the Middle Class hero. If one does have a closer look at his professional career, he played or acted in only those films that were directly or indirectly associated with common man’s life. But apart from that he had more tilt towards the parallel cinema where talent wasn’t judged by the commercial interests.

Amol Palekar was born on 24th of November 1944 in a Brahmin Family to Kamalakar Palekar and his wife Suhasini in Mumbai. He is the only brother to his 3 sisters; Rekha, Neelon & Unnati. From Mumbai, he joined Sir J. J. School of Art where he hit the track with trial act in Marathi theatre in collaboration of Satyadev Dubey and later on in 1972 formed his individual theatre group Aniket. In 1974, he was signed for Rajnigandha directed by Basu Chatterjee. After that he appeared in some satirical comedy films directed either by Basu Chatterjee and Hrishikesh Mukherjee, namely, Naram Garam, Golmaal & Chhoti Si Baat. He took to direction with Marathi language movie Aakriet in 1981. One of his directorial flicks Paheli was chosen as India’s official entry at the Oscars in Foreign Film category in 2006.
Even though being brought up in a Brahmin family, Amol Palekar doesn’t believe in religion and has vehemently stated that he’s a nonbeliever. Some of his notable films as an actor include Khamosh, Aks, Chitchor, Rang Birangi, Shriman Shrimati and Damaad, etc.
Amol Palekar has directed over 10 films .Most of his movies are made on a particular subject which is sensitive in nature and demands the attention from the society. Notable among them are Ankahi in 1985, Thoda SA Rumani Ho Jaye in 1990, Bangarwadi in 1995, Daayraa in 1996, Anahat, Kairee and Dhyaas Parva in 2001 & Thaang or Quest in 2006. Most of his films cater to lovers of art cinema who have real understanding of the real issues. His films have an international audience and are screened at Karlovy Vary Film and various other prestigious film festivals in different parts of the world. Interestingly, he has also tried his hand in doing roles with negative shades, such as in Bhumika directed by Shyam Benegal. Palekar always tried different subjects for his films such as his latest release Quest which deals with the sensitive issue of Homosexuality.
Not many might know that Amol Palekar is an excellent painter. His passion for painting grew in a boarding school. He met his wife Chitra who was his sister’s classmate and the love blossomed between the two. But unfortunately his marriage didn’t work out and he separated from his wife. Later on, he married Sandhya Gokhale. His second wife has also written screenplay of his film Anahat. The couple has 2 daughters Samiha and Shalmalee.
Despite having a boyish look and a boy-next-door image, Vivek Oberoi belongs to that category of stars that are not only popular among the masses but also have enjoyed commercial success in a short span of time. The actor was born on 3rd of September 1976 to veteran actor Suresh Oberoi and Yashodhara Oberoi in Hyderabad. He has two brothers and one sister and is also the cousin of imminent tennis ace Shikha Uberoi (Oberoi).

Vivek completed his high school education from Mayo College in Ajmer and completed his college education from Mithibai College in Mumbai. Later on, while he was attending an actor’s workshop in London he was speckled by the administrator of New York University. It was at his instance, vivek went to New York to pursue Masters Degree in film acting and before making his debut in bollywood he tried his hand in script writing. Interestingly, one of his nicknames is Rock star.
Vivek made a dream debut with an unconventional role and look as Chandu Nagre in Company directed by Ram Gopal Verma in 2002. The movie became a hit and he was critically as well as commercially appreciated for his role. His performance brought rich dividends to him as he not only won Filmfare Award for Best Debut but also for Best Supporting Actor. The same year he acted in Saathiya opposite Rani Mukherji and directed by Shaad Ali. The movie became hit and the performance of both the actors was applauded. In 2004, he appeared in a multi-star film Masti directed by Inder Kumar. Though the movie got downbeat appraisal but it managed to shock its critics by becoming a hit. In 2006, Vivek became a part of dramatics history by starring in adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous play ‘Othello’. The film titled Omkara directed by multi-talented Vishal Bharadwaj. Vivek’s role as Kesu Firangi established his acting credentials. His first release in 2007 was Shootout at Lokhandwala where his character of Gangster Maya Dolas was truly mind-boggling. The movie was based on a real-life encounter of the above-mentioned Gangster. Though the film did an average business his performance was critically acclaimed. His performance was so good in the movie that it was jokingly said that he performs more than his potential only in the roles of a gangster.
Vivek Oberoi’s personal life has always been surrounded by controversies. First, it was his over-exposure of his relationship with model Gurpreet Gill that ultimately led to their break up. Though he claimed to have been dating former beauty queen and now popular actress Aishwarya Rai and going gung-ho in public about their relationship in public but Aishwarya never acknowledged the relationship. Vivek’s exaggeration of facts regarding his relationships has unfortunately led to his failure in that department. Earlier he came into conflict with Salman Khan over the alleged threatening calls made by him in the dead of night. Besides that, he actively volunteered for village reconstruction in the post-Tsunami period. For his dedicated services, Vivek was honored with a Red and White bravery award.
