Phillauri: Movie Review
As promising as the trailer, the film Phillauri, set in Punjab is pure, filled with spirit (no pun intended) 😛 and a true romantic comedy.
Kanan played by Suraj Sharma is a confused NRI who has landed in Amritsar. After traveling all the way from Canada, it dawns upon him that he is a ‘manglik’. It is then that he is told to marry a tree in order to get rid of the bad luck.
Anushka Sharma is playing the role of a ghost and I bet you haven’t ever seen a charming and beautiful ghost as her. She is playing the role of Shashi who resides in the tree Kanan is married to. Her soul is awakened after 100 long years and it could not depart to the other world because of some unfinished business.
The cinematography of the film is awesome. Suraj Sharma is able to convince the audience that he is damn scared of the ghost. Shashi is shocked to see the change in tradition and family values in a span of 100 years. The film throws light on these changes. Anushka Sharma has proved it yet again that she is capable of pulling off any role, unlike other mainstream actresses.
The highlight of the film is the chemistry between Anushka and Diljit Dosanjh. Diljit’s acting skill is praiseworthy. You will find yourself humming the melodious songs of Phillauri after you step out of the theater.
Critics have rated the film averagely but Anushka Sharma and Diljit deserve a special mention. The second film under Anushka’s production house comes out victorious thus giving the actress and extra edge over her competitors. 😀
Here’s the trailer if you haven’t yet watched Phillauri:
